Get into the car with a flashlight and wiggle the clutch pedal and look for movement in the assembly.

 

If so, the spot welds holding the pedal assembly together broke (this causes flexing in the pedal bracket, spongy pedal travel and getting a stuck pedal). Take the pedal assembly out and weld it or buy a new one.
